Tim Lackey, Director of Business Process for PCI Group, discusses how PCI Group maintains consistent high quality.

Excellent quality is not enough. Utilizing LEAN Manufacturing methodologies, consistent excellent quality is the standard we hold ourselves to at PCI Group.

As a transactional print and mail provider, PCI Group must maintain a high level of quality and consistency. There’s no exception to these tenets when you work with companies in regulated industries. Most of that comes down to process. In this episode of Ask the Experts, Tim Lackey, Director of Business Process & Improvement, offers insights on how we are able to be consistent in quality.

“It’s the processes and process auditing. We identify any variability and then work to improve them. That’s a major part of Lean Manufacturing,” Tim said.

Since the organization adopted Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma, process has been our mantra. After years of pursuing this, employees understand that this is important and isn’t going to change. We have great buy-in now because it works. There are lots of examples of this every day, some big and some small.

“Employees are now coming to me with ideas for process improvements. We did a project last year that ended up reducing employee walking by 3000 miles. That’s huge,” Tim explained.

With leadership and staff on board with process and continuous improvement of it, consistency is the byproduct of that. That means a lot to us internally and our customers that have expectations around quality.
